Long time member of the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Station, Detective Sniffy  McGruff was released earlier this afternoon from Imperial Beach's new Animal Control Facility.  McGruff claims that he was unlawfully ticketed...then assaulted and detained by a female deputy  who used a choker collar on a long pole to forcibly remove him through the open window of his vehicle...and then placed him in a dark cubicle on a pick up truck. 

"I was just sitting there eating my sandwich, watching the surfers, when she comes up and tries to write me a parking ticket !"

"  I told her to back off and that's when the assault took place!"

 He claims the female deputy  fired a taser at him and then dragged him out the window by his neck! He claims he was not only publicly humiliated and injured during the assault and arrest, but that the animal control officer forced him to urinate on a concrete floor  in front of her, before locking him in a cage. He was held behind bars with no phone call for over  24 hours. To make matters worse, his auto was towed and impounded.

"I still don't think she knows who I am!”

McGruff told this reporter at his release that he intends to sue the Department, The City  and it's new Parking/Animal Control Deputy  for every penny they have!

 "I've done too much for this community over the last 20  years to be treated in this disgraceful manner! "

"Doesn't she know who I am?"

"I'm McGruff !.. Beotch ! "

Imperial Beach’s new Animal Control officer also writes parking tickets as part of her dual function job description. The deputy stated that she was writing parking tickets on street sweeping day and Mr. McGruff’s auto was parked illegally in a handicapped zone.

When I tried to place the ticket on his car, I  noticed someone was in the car fumbling around inside a trench coat!  " 

"I smelled the pot and ordered him out of the car ,with his hands where I could see them."  

  "When he didn’t comply , I tazed him and dragged his butt out of the car !”

The patrol officer said she had to subdue McGruff a second time after he had been dragged from the vehicle when he allegedly got up and tried to hump the officer in what could only be described as , “doggy style” !

"I didn’t know this dog was another cop! "  

"Apparently he does have some identification in a trench coat he left in the car when I arrested him."

" He doesn’t have any pockets of his own!"

 "He’s lucky he got out before we neutered him ! " 

This brings up an even more serious question:  Does a meter maid / dog catcher need to know who’s working undercover at the beach?  Did the metermaid / dog catcher  expose an ongoing stakeout to public scrutiny? Was a criminal investigation compromised  because a uninformed member of the department staff stumbled into the middle of an ongoing stakeout and blew McGruff’s “COVER”?

An angry McGruff repeated for this reporter one more time:

    “I’m McGruff  BEOTCH !”     

                                                      “I’ll get you for this !”
